Running Paper Play Quiz Nights
For traditional pub quizzes where players write answers on paper, no phones needed.
For traditional pub quizzes where players write answers on paper, no phones needed.
Paper Play is a quiz mode designed for old-school pub quizzes. Players don't need phones or QR codes. The audience screen shows questions, the host calls them out, and players write answers on paper. The host marks at the end. All the player chrome (QR code, leaderboard, awards) is hidden from the audience screen.
Launch the app on your phone, tablet, or laptop and select Quiz. On the first screen you'll see a choice: Paper Play or Phone Play. Tap Paper Play.
You make this choice once per quiz. To switch, restart the quiz.
Connect your audience screen to a TV (HDMI or TV Connect). The screen will show only the question, the round name, and a timer. No QR codes, no leaderboard, no team list.
Print one answer sheet per team. We recommend a simple grid: round number, question number, answer, points. Pens for each table.
Read each question aloud, give players time to write their answers, then move to the next. Reveal the answer when the round ends. The host page has a Next Question button so you control the pace.
At the end of each round (or the whole quiz), swap papers between teams to mark, or collect them and mark them yourself. Announce scores from the host page or write them up on a chalkboard.
